Information Technology Risk Management

Oakland Computer Company offers services to decrease IT project risk and accelerate the realization of returns on IT investments. Based on our senior staff average of over 20 years of IT experience in all phases of IT implementation and product development we analyze projects and develop risk avoidance plans to increase the probability of on-time on-budget projects. All projects entail risks: OCC accelerates projects by identifying those risks and guiding projects to successful completion.

Risk Item Identification: OCC reviews the client's general approach and intended course of action in order to identify, before major financial commitments, those items that may increase project risk. Such items include, but are not limited to:
Unproven technology;
Inadequate skills or resources;
Lack of clear benefit expectations; and,
Inadequate contractor/vendor controls.

Initial Project Plan Review: Beginning with first project plan draft availability OCC collaborates with the project planning team to ensure:
The project plan describes a phased approach, with each phase providing a business benefit;
The plan has identified milestones, defined with sufficient detail to allow easy identification of problem areas;
That deliverables are described well enough to audit successfully; and
That payments to third parties are closely related to milestones and deliverables.

Project Implementation Reviews:During the project implementation OCC will review project progress with particular attention to:
Missed milestones;
Incomplete deliverables;
Changes of objectives or priorities;
Contractor payment schedules.

Where feasible, OCC will develop recovery plans when project plan exceptions occur.

Project Final Review: Upon project completion, OCC will document the project experience and make recommendations for process improvement. Project results: Costs and benefits achieved versus plans, unexpected occurrences during the project, and recommendations for process improvements. space
